Travel Day

When the first day of vacation involves multiple flight connections it’s always a bit stressful. Added to that, when we went through the TSA screening I got randomly selected for a full body pat down screening, then when the swab of my hands was tested an alarm went off so there was another full body pat down and detail examination of everything in my carry on. Note to self, don’t take up resin casting the week before flying. Thankfully, that was the only blip and the day was good for flying. All of our flights were on time.

It’s always a joy to see little ones wonder at all of the new experiences. On our takeoff from Rochester Charlie looked down and commented how beautiful things looked. In Detroit he wondered at the driverless tram that transported us to our gate. He also got flight wings and a special card with a picture of our plane. The highlight was him getting to sit in the cockpit. He couldn’t stop talking about it.

We arrived in Vancouver 30 minutes early and got to the Pan Pacific Hotel which is connected to the cruise dock, by 9:30 (12:30AM our time). Our rooms were on the 22nd floor with a great view of the water. We didn’t have much time to enjoy the view because we board our cruise at 10:30AM and needed some shuteye. Everyone but Charlie was ready for bed. He was still flying high from the day’s excitement.

He couldn’t believe all of the buttons.
