Rhodes

Our Rhodes tour to Lindos had us up early. Our tour started at 8:15 so thank goodness for room service.

Our tour guide Stefanos provided a lot of history of the island of Rhodes, and the cities of Rhodes and Lindos as the bus made its way to Lindos.

On the way we had a brief stop at a local pottery studio. The potter was very good as was the painter. We ended up buying a small memento from there.

Lindos was another 15 minute ride on the bis, Lindos dates back to the 10th century BC ands mentioned in the Iliad. The temple at the top of the Acropolis was dedicated to the goddess Athena. There are almost 300 steps to the top and the walk takes you down narrow pedestrian streets the marble and stone walkways, which are pretty slippery. The final 200 or so steps to the top are part of a preserved archeological site. Not sure I was going to make it because the pathways were very uneven and slipper, and it was really hot. We doid make it and the views were spectacular. There is a heart shaped cove where expensive yachts come and go. The walk down was minimally easier than the walk up because it was slippery and there were no handrails. We all made it back to the bus unscathed.

After returning to the city of Rhodes we elected to just get back on the ship, have lunch and relax.

We had dinner at the buffet restaurant which is turned into table service for dinner. It was Greek night at all of the restaurants. The food we had was ok. My judge for very good is that it needs to be at least as good as I can make it. To date, 3 of the 5 dining experiences so far have been whatI’d call excellent

It’s been a pretty tiring few days so we decided to call it an early night. I think we’ve seen all of the ruins were are going to see. I am a bit ruined out. Tomorrow will be a change of pace. We will be in Crete where we are taking 4x4 vehicles up in the hills to a winery.
