Inside Passage

A Day at Sea

Today was a pretty low key day as we traveled the inside passage up towards Ketchikan Alaska. We awoke pretty late even given the extra hour of time due to setting the clocks back an additional hour from Vancouver. We did wake in time to get breakfast before the buffet closed however.

During the day we saw a number of whales off in the distance. They were not close enough to get a good photo but it was exciting none the less.

In mid-afternoon David and I did an excellent wine tasting which paired a number of different foods with different wines. The very knowledgable ship’s beverage manager and sommelier gave the seminar.

Prior to dinner Charlie wanted to go swimming. The indoor pool is open to kids between 4 and 7PM only so we went down right at 4PM and despite the 50 degree outside temperature, Charlie elected to swim in the outdoor pool. Ruth and I spent our time outdoors in one of the hot tubs.

Dinner was in the main dining room and while good, it was nothing like the previous evening.

We headed to bed early as we need to be ready for our Ketchikan excursion which will take us on a boat to view wildlife followed by a crab feast.
