Back to Sea on the Guadalquivir River

Our ship departed today at 5PM so there was plenty of time to get off the ship. David took the opportunity to take a walk though the beautiful park across from our dock. With the heat and the long day yesterday I elected to stay on the ship and rest. This gave me an opportunity to enjoy the empty ship and catch up on this blog.

For breakfast we decided to order room service. It was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed breakfast on our veranda while watching the sights on the river.

We watched our departure from Seville from our veranda for a few minutes, then joined the sail away party on the pool deck before we needed to get dressed for our dinner at the Chef’s Table. We were on deck as we passed by the open draw bridge and then under another bridge where we barely cleared the bridge.

Back in our room as we dressed for dinner we approached the lock. It was incredible to see how close the ship came to the wall when it entered the lock, From our veranda you could hardly see the river. Once in the lock it took less than a minute to release the water and we were off again down the river past farmland as we headed back to the ocean.

Our French Chef Table dinner was held in Prime C, one of the specialty restaurants onboard. It was hosted by ship’s sommelier, June who was a delight. We met her a few days ago when we dined at Prime C. June introduced the chef and explained each wine that accompanied the seven courses. The food and the wines were all excellent and the food was beautifully prepared.

We will be at sea until tomorrow late in the afternoon when we arrive in Lisbon where the temperatures promise to be a little cooler. As we sailed towards Lisbon the seas were very calm. Perfect for a good night’s sleep.
