Azamara Quest Boarding Day

It was nice to sleep in this day. The past few days were pretty hectic but we really wanted to get a sense of Barcelona as we’ve never been there. Our effort there was worth it, but sleeping in was a glorious gift.

The hotel we stayed at was in old town Barcelona, just off a main old town thoriughfare and pedestrian walkway called La Ramba. The hotel is on a cobblestone street that dates back to Roman times so transportation back then walked on 4 legs. Thankfully the hotel was near La Rambo where taxis could drive.

The hotel itself, the Petit Palace Boqueria Garden was a beautiful boutique hotel. The rooms were quite comfortable and the complementary breakfast was outstanding. I’m not sure how things would be in the middle of summer as the main desk controls the air conditioning, but it was fine for us in late spring.

After checking out from our hotel we relaxed in the lovely garden area while we waited for time to head to the port. One of the hotel employees walked with us to La Ramba and took our luggage, then hailed us a cab and made sure the driver knew where we were headed. I can’t say enough good things about the hotel.

The cab ride to the port was pretty uneventful but took a while because of the traffic. Check in on the Azamara Quest was a breeze, Upon boarding we were hearded to the required short safety session and were then free to start our vacation. Our cruise cabin is quite spacious with plenty of storage and a very large balcony with a table and chairs. Our room hosts, Virgilio and Mark stopped by to make sure we knew where everything was located in our room. By 3 PM we had everything unpacked and were ready to enjoy the cruise.

Our dinner the first evening was in Aquilina, one of the ship’s specialty restaurants that specializes in Italian seafood. We had lobster ravioli and grilled sea bass. Both were delicious.

Tomorrow we will have a full day in Valencia, home of paella so we turned in early..
